hey zoners
I just want to know if anyone has successfully gotten this game to run on windows 7. I've tryed uninstalling and reinstalling the game, as well as installing direct x and the microsoft dot net framework, but nothing works. When I try to run the game, I get the error that stfc10.exe has stopped working. Any other ideas? I really enjoy this game and used to play in xp with no problems.

It's such a chalanging game, I love the StarTrek sounds and also that you really have to think about what your doing to be successful

yes, the game can be played under windows 7! here's how to get it to work. You need to go on microsofts website and download what's called the direct x runtime package. You can download it from the following address http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35
What this program does is installs the direct x 9.0 c librarys, which stfc needs in order to run. the process takes a little while, but once it's complete, you can just click your star trek final conflict shortcut and it will run. If anyone has problems, let me know, I would be glad to help any zoners out

Only problem with the game I found was during my last game. I'd managed to wipe out all the Cardascians and most of the Romulans and Klingons, though at the cost of several ships. My usual strateg is to leave the Defiant at the starting position but with cloaking device engaged. Then I send two each of my remaining ships to one of my starbases to defend them from any ships that come their way, which they usually do at least right at first. Then once each enemy fleet is down to two ships they tend to pull back. If I have at least two other ships surviving at that point I take the cloaked Defiant and one other sip to pursue each individual enemy to their own territory, although admittedly this is risky especially when it's the Klingons you're after since they can surprise you. That way I can hopefully wipe out both ships in a territory in a single go. But while pursuing the Romulans to their section of space last time I noticed that not only did I seem not to be making progress I also couldn't check the remaining distance since anytime I checked autopilot status an exception error came up.

It happened to me several times during my last game, so I quit. Personally though I wish he'd stuck with the NeoSpeech Kate voice since while I quite like Scansoft Karen I don't think she really fits into the context of Star Trek.

Me either. It would have been nice if he added a change voice option so that the user had a choice of what voice they want.

He actually tried that by having the games talk directly to Sapi rather than using prerecorded files, but unfortunately given how easy it seemed to be for most average users to break their Sapi without meaning to he ditched that plan.

Is there any place where i can get the older stfc with the kate voice? I used to have it, but when I got a new computer and was transfering files over, i forgot to grab the old file.
